A phone system (also called a PBX) handles incoming and outgoing calls for a company.
It also enables free internal calls between employees.
Sonetel's phone system is free and can be connected to any phone company worldwide and to any regular IP phones .
Sonetel provides a free Windows IP-phone - the Sonetel Client - which includes an interface for configuring the Sonetel phone system (adding users, connecting to phone companies etc.).
Users can also install other free IP software phones in their iPhone, Android or Symbian phones or in their Mac and connect them all to the Sonetel phone system, to make and receive calls.
As an optional low cost service, Sonetel can be your phone company and provide cheap phone numbers in 50 countries for your incoming calls. Sonetel also has low rates on calls to mobile phones and land lines worldwide.
This is how it works.
You can connect as many phone numbers as you wish to any staff member.
Staff members can answer with an IP phone installed in their mobile phone or computer or with an IP desktop phone.
If the staff member does not answer, the call will be automatically forwarded to a destination of their choice - such as another co-worker, a mobile phone etc.
This means that calls always are answered, but that cost can be saved if the call is answered with an IP-phone.
Calls between Sonetel users are free (see video explaining this).
You can also save money by making low cost calls to mobile phones and landlines anywhere in the world.
This is what you need to do.
You pay the same price regardless where you are calling from.
You do not need to buy a phone number to make calls and you do not need to pay any monthly fee.
You can add money to your prepaid account in several ways.
You can download the free Sonetel client here.
Other free phones for Mac, Android, iPhone, Symbian etc. can be found here .
When you make calls it is best to dial in the international format with a "+" at the beginning, but it usually works fine to make local calls in the way you are used to. Details can be found here.
Sonetel provides you with a free Windows software phone and a free Android app.
You can also use high quality desktop phones or free software phones for iPhone, Symbian (Nokia), Mac, Linux etc.
As long as they are standards based (SIP), they can be connected to the Sonetel phone system.
Instructions can be found in our on-line help.
When there is a call for a user (a staff member) in your company, Sonetel will make all their IP-phones ring at the same time. They can answer on the phone they prefer.
If there is no answer on any IP-phones, the call will be forwarded to a destination of the users choice- for example their regular mobile phone number.
If the call is forwarded to a mobile phone, it will be charged as a regular outbound call, but if you connect your own phone company to the Sonetel phone system, we will not charge you anything for forwarding the call via your phone company.
So to summarize, calls are connected for free when possible - but forwarded at a low cost if necessary - so that your staff always can be reached.
